On Thursday 16th January a group of 15 Biggar Ramblers walked a lovely 7.5 mile woodland circuit incorporating The Falls of Clyde and historic New Lanark Village.
We set off from Wellgatehead Car Park in Lanark and followed road and woodland path to New Lanark. We then joined the Clyde Walkway past Dunstaff Linn, Cora Linn and Bonninngton Linn, before crossing the river. After a coffee stop we walked through the Corehouse Estate to Kirkfieldbank, and recrossed the river at historic Clydeholm Bridge where we stopped for lunch. It was a lovely bright day and we enjoyed great views of New Lanark and the Falls as we walked through the sheltered woodland. We completed walk by following Clyde walkway path to Castlebank Park and a short walk back to car park.
This was a beautiful winter walk with great views of historic New Lanark and the spectacular Falls of Clyde.
