Seven folk gathered at Ladyurd for a 9 mile walk. The weather forecast was fairly benign but it didn’t feel like it at times! We walked gently up the hill to the deer fence and entered Stobo valley descending via the new forestry road to the old house at Stobo Hopehead where we had 11s. We then followed the John Buchan Way westwards into Broughton valley where the picture was taken. The hard work then began ascending up onto Broughton Heights, the wind was much stronger than forecast and when it hailed, it hurt! We decided (by a majority vote1) to have a late lunch in the shelter of Castle Craig forest rather than eat on the hillside. The shelter was reached with some pleasure and after lunch a gentle walk back to the cars completed the circuit.
