On Tuesday 6th January a group of seven Biggar Ramblers kicked off our 2026 programme with a 7.5 mile walk in sub-zero conditions in the beautiful Clyde Valley.
We started from Wellgatehead Car Park in Lanark, walking along road and woodland path down to New Lanark, before heading along a riverside path towards the Falls of Clyde. Both Corra Linn and Bonnington Falls looked spectacular with stalactites and frozen pools. After crossing the river, we followed the 3.5 mile path to Kirkfieldbank, enjoying great views of the Falls and New Lanark en-route.
Having re-crossed the river at Clydeholm Bridge, we followed the riverside path up to Castlebank Park where we had coffee and sandwiches before returning to our start point.
